The Pellegrinetti’s arrived in Puglianella probably in the fifteenth century, when four brothers came from Rome to settle in the area. One brother settled in Camporgiano, one in Puglianella, one in Sillicano and one in Viareggio. My Great Great Grand Father was Pietro Pellegrinetti, a farmer who was married to Virginia Belli. He was considered a wise man in the village, and would often advise other village residents on matters of importance. |

I Pellegrinetti arrivarono in Puglianella probabilmente nel quindicesimo secolo, quando i quattro fratelli vennero da Roma, e stabilirono nella zona di Toscana. uno stabili in Camporgiano, uno in Puglianella, uno in Sillicano e finalemente, uno in Viareggio. Il mio trisnonno era Pietro Pellegrinetti, un agricoltore che si è stato sposato alla Virginia Belli. Era considerato un uomo erudito nel villaggio, e spesso raccomanderebbe altri residenti del villaggio sull' affari d’importanza. |

My Great Grand Father, Bernadino Pellegrinetti emigrated to London, England around the beginning of the last century. He started off selling traditional Italian ice cream in the summer and roasted chestnuts in the winter. In time he managed to save enough money to open a restaurant in partnership with fellow Italians, the Toliani’s on Hampsted Heath.

Il mio bisnonno, Bernadino Pellegrinetti emigró a Londra, Inghilterra all'inizio del secolo scorso. Lui cominciò vendendo il gelato italiano tradizionale di estate ed arrostisce le castagne nell'inverno. Dopo alcuni tempo, riusci risparmiare abbastanza soldi per aprire un ristorante nell'associazione con un altra famiglia italiana, il Toliani, sul parco di Hampsted. |

Bernadino was married to Annunziata Zerbini, a woman from the nearby village of Fabbrica di Careggine (Click for photo), now known as the phantom village as it is submerged under a nearby reservoir. Then Bernadino took his wife and children to London, England. There, they had several other children, bringing the number to ten in all.

Bernadino è stato sposato a Annunziatta Zerbini, una donna da un villaggio vicino che si chiama Fabbrica di Careggine (Scatta per un photo), ora conosciuto come il villaggio fantasmo come è sommerso sotto un serbatoio vicino. Poi, Bernadino ha preso la sua moglie ed i loro bambini a Londra, Inghilterra all'inizio del secolo scorso. Là, hanno avuti parecchi altri bambini, dieci in tutto. |

He remained partners with the Tolaini's until the 1930s when the Pellegrinetti family took over the whole business. The restaurant was opened from 7am-11pm and was run with help of all the family. They served hot meals, teas, cakes and the famous Italian Pellegrinetti ice-cream. Lui rimasero soci fino ai 1930s in cui la famiglia di Pellegrinetti acquistò la ditta interamente. Il ristorante era aperto da 7am-11pm ed è stato diretto con aiuto di tutta la famiglia. Hanno servito i pasti caldi, i tè, le torte ed il gelato italiano famoso di Pellegrinetti. |

During the Second World War, while on holiday in Italy, Bernadino, Annuziatta and some of the children were trapped in Italy as war broke out, and had to remain there for 6 years. The restaurant was run by one of the brothers, while two of the others (Ademiro and Joseph) served in the Army. During this time, in was not advisable to have an Italian name on any business and the name above the door was changed to BP Café. The restaurant flourised in the years after the war, however during the 70s, the restaurant could not withstand the fast food revolution and business declined. The restaurant was eventually sold and still remains today. My GreatGrand father Bernadino died shortly after Durante la seconda guerra mondiale, mentre sulla vacanza in Italia, Bernadino, Annuziatta ed alcuni dei bambini sono stati intrappolato in Italia mentre la guerra ha scoppiato ed hanno dovuto rimanere in Puglianella per 6 anni. Il ristorante è stato diretto da uno dei fratelli, mentre due degli altri (Ademiro e Joseph) hanno servito nell'esercito. Durante questo tempo, non era consigliabile da avere un nome italiano su alcun commercio ed il nome sopra il portello è stato cambiato al punto a “BP Café”. Il ristorante ha prosperato durante gli anni dopo la guerra, comunque durante il 70s, il ristorante non potrebbe sostenere la rivoluzione degli “fast-Food” ristoranti ed la ditta ha declinato. Il ristorante finalmente è stato venduto ed ancora rimane oggi. Mio Bisnonno è morta presto dopo.
