Great Great Grand Mother Jessie Mardon Coates with Ernest Coates (c. 1870), was a professor of music from Exeter, Devonshire in England. Unfortunately, Great Great Grand Father Joseph Jennings Coates has been cut off. If any body has the other half of this photo, a copy would be greatly appreciated! Jessies Father was called William Mardon, and was a piano manufacturer from Exeter. His wife was called Elizabeth (Betsy) and was also a professor of music.
Joseph Jennings Coates was from Eccleshill inYorkshire. He had four brothers Benjamin a mechanic and machine maker, John a cabinet maker, and William a mechanic. Josephs fathers name was also called Joseph and he was also a mechanic and machine maker, and was married to Mercy Jennings Coates. Joseph and Jessie were married in 1876 and moved to Ireland to start a Piano business between 1883-1887. They had four children, Violet (born in Hollyhead, Wales), Ernest (born in England), Albert and Charles (both born in Ireland). |
